Marcello Ferri is a licensed architect in the State of New York and in Italy. Marcello has worked for architectural firms in New York City such as Mitchell/Giurgola Architects LLP, Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners LLP, Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects and Rafael Viñoly Architects PC as a designer, project architect and project manager. Clients list includes: Princeton University, The Rockefeller University, US General Service Administration, The Port Authority of NY & NJ, The Episcopal Church General Theological Seminary, New York School Construction Authority.
Marcello is currently teaching computational design courses at Pratt Institute - Center for Continuing and Professional Studies.
While growing up in an architectural context - Marcello's father Dr. Ing. Aldo Ferri designed multi-family and single-family houses and a few industrial buildings during the 1970's and worked as a director of urban planning for several towns including Rome - Marcello attended humanistic secondary high school (Liceo Classico) and graduated from the School of Architecture of the University of Rome La Sapienza with specialization in structures. Marcello has subsequently worked for both Universities of Rome La Sapienza and Roma3 as a seismic structural analyst. Marcello also served the Office of the Prime Minister, Department of Civil Protection, Emergency Center during a one year military service in 1996/1997 in Italy. During his academic career Marcello conducted extensive studies abroad in The Netherlands and Finland absorbing the principals of modern and contemporary northern European architecture and had the pleasure and the privilege of visiting offices and institutions including the Berlage Institute, Herman Hertzberger Office, Faculty of Architecture of Delft University, The Alvar Aalto Foundation and Reima Pietilä Office.
